PHOENIX - A man convicted in a fatal hit and run accident has been sentenced to one year in jail.
Cody Ryan Davis, 22, was charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident after Mesa resident Bradley Jason Scott, 32, was struck and killed while riding his bicycle last July.
Police said Scott was legally riding his bicycle with the flow of traffic near Southern Avenue and Rural road when he was struck around midnight on July 10.
Police said Davis did not stop, but several people in nearby vehicles called 911 and went to Scott's aid as he lay in the street.
Davis pleaded guilty and on Wednesday, he was sentenced by Judge Robert Gottsfield to one year in jail and three years probation.
