Four new speed cameras are being added to the Paradise Valley area, according to officials.
The speed cameras will be found along Tatum Boulevard and Lincoln Drive.
Here is a list of their exact locations:
Tatum Blvd. and Lincoln Dr.
Tatum Blvd. and Desert Jewel Dr.
36th St. and Palo Cristi (Lincoln Dr.)
Mockingbird Ln. and Lincoln Dr.
The city was hoping to have the cameras working this past weekend, but they are expected to be working by the end of this week or next week.
The new cameras were approved by a town council. Will adding cameras help prevent car accidents??????
MY OPINION: In the beginning, it will do nothing to prevent accidents.
After awhile, it should help prevent accidents (and speeders).
Everyone who has lived in Arizona for more than 5 years is familiar with Paradise Valley and its speed cameras. I, for one, avoid Paradise Valley as much as I can.
However, in the times that I must drive through Paradise Valley, I am careful—particularly with my speed. The speed cameras have most assuredly helped to bring down the speed of the vehicles driving through Paradise Valley, made drivers drive more carefully and therefore, reduce the number of accidents.
There is likely to be a learning curve regarding the locations of the new cameras, but once word gets out, drivers will slow down and accidents will lesson.
I’ve been handling car accident cases for 23 years. This is just my .02.
