SEATBELTS EVERYONE. PLEASE, REMEMBER!!!!
A 3-year-old child was ejected and a west Phoenix intersection was closed for several hours following a wreck Monday morning near 67th Avenue and Van Buren Street.
The intersection was expected to remain closed for several hours Monday morning. The collision took place about 5 a.m. Monday when a gray Volkswagen Passat ran a red light and struck a white SUV.
Firefighters at the scene said the 28-year-old male driver and the 31-year-old female passenger of the SUV were trapped and had to be cut out of one of the vehicle.
The woman had lacerations to her lower extremities and is in stable condition, but the driver was listed as being in extremely critical condition.
The 3-year old child who was ejected from the SUV during the collision and was also listed in extremely critical condition.
Ask yourself: Why? This does not ever have to happen. Child restraints are the law. Further, is is just irresponsible on EVERY front to not have children restrained inside a moving vehicle.
Three year olds don't make decisions.
Three year olds have no input.
That is why Arizona law places the responsibility on the adults in the vehicle.
Prayers for this family, all children placed in similar positions.
