Lawsuits. Too many, right? Filed by the greedy, right? Hurting our country, right? Wrong.
On all three counts, wrong. 228 years ago, our forefathers enacted The Constitution, now called "The Law of the Land" in the United States.
The Constitution established our three branches of government: The Executive, The Legislative and The Judicial. The Judicial Branch was seen as absolutely necessary by the drafters to a free and lawful society.
If our nation was to be peaceful, safe and free, they knew that we needed a peaceful means of resolving disputes, as well as enforcement mechanisms for the decisions made in the dispute resolution process.
Hence, the court system in the United States was born. The court system, and it's lawyers and its lawsuits today remain the #1 reason that society remains free, peaceful and safe.
If one person causes an accident that harms another, the victim can get his/her damages paid, instead of facing financial ruin.
Property and store owners must take reasonable steps to keep their premises safe, or face a responsibility of paying injured people for harm that results.
Manufacturers must design, make and sell safe products, otherwise face in court the people and families who their dangerous products harm.
And LAWYERS are the gatekeepers. LAWYERS and LAWSUITS are the mechanism that keeps products safe, that keeps manufacturers and businesses honest.
The promise of lawsuits is what makes drivers drive safe and property owners maintain their properties free of danger.
Imagine the alternative, just for a moment. If we had no laws or courts to hold wrongdoers accountable, we would live in a lawless nation. It would be anarchy.
We would not be safe or free. People could do anything with concern of taking responsibility for their actions.
The judicial branch, the court system and its well-educated lawyers are needed by all in a free, peaceful and safe United States of America.
